Sermorelin research: what the studies have looked at
This page summarises the published research on sermorelin, for reference. It sets out what each study investigated and in what group, not an outcome for any person, and it is not medical advice. What we supply under this name is a research chemical for laboratory use only.
What sermorelin is
Sermorelin is GHRH(1-29), the first 29 amino acids of growth-hormone-releasing hormone and the part that carries its activity. It was once approved by the US FDA and sold as Geref, used as a diagnostic agent and in the treatment of growth-hormone deficiency in children; it was later withdrawn from the market for commercial rather than safety reasons. The material we supply is unapproved research material of the same identity, not the former medicine, and it is not for human use.
What the studies investigated
Prakash and Goa (1999), BioDrugs 12(2):139-157. Review. Reviewed sermorelin’s use as a diagnostic agent and in paediatric growth-hormone deficiency Source.
Corpas et al. (1992), Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism 75(2):530-535. Human, crossover, older and younger men. Investigated GH and IGF-1 responses to sermorelin Source.
Neyzi et al. (1993), Acta Paediatrica Supplement 388:16-21. Human, paediatric. Investigated sermorelin in children with growth-hormone deficiency Source.
Mechanism, as described in the literature
As the active fragment of GHRH, sermorelin is described as acting on the pituitary to release the body’s own growth hormone, which is why it was used both to test pituitary function and to raise GH in children who lacked it. The studies measured GH and IGF-1 responses and diagnostic or paediatric endpoints under medical supervision, and they do not describe what a research powder does outside that setting.
The material we supply
We supply sermorelin as a research chemical, released against a written specification with a batch certificate of analysis. It is not Geref or any other medicine, and it is not for human or animal use. For the vial sizes, the price per mg and how to order, see the sermorelin compound page; the COA lookup pulls the certificate for any batch. The references above link to each study’s record; this summary is for research and educational reference only.
