Selank research: what the studies have looked at

This page summarises the published research on Selank, for reference. It states what each study investigated and in whom, not an effect to expect, and it is not medical advice. Selank is registered as a medicine in Russia but is not an approved drug in North America, the United Kingdom or the European Union; what we supply is a research chemical for laboratory use only.

What Selank is

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide based on the immune peptide tuftsin, developed in Russia as an anxiolytic. It has been studied mainly in Russian clinical and preclinical work. Outside Russia it has not been approved as a medicine.

What the studies investigated

Zozulia et al. (2008), Zhurnal Nevrologii i Psikhiatrii 108(4):38. Human, generalised anxiety, open comparison. Compared Selank with medazepam in an open-label anxiety cohort Source.

Panikratova et al. (2020), Doklady Biological Sciences 490(1):9. Human, functional MRI. Investigated changes in resting-state brain connectivity after Selank Source.

Volkova et al. (2016), Frontiers in Pharmacology 7:31. Rat. Investigated GABAergic gene expression after Selank Source.

Mechanism, as described in the literature

The literature describes Selank as a tuftsin analogue reported to interact with GABAergic and monoamine signalling and with the expression of related genes, studied in a small human anxiety comparison and in rat models. The evidence base is small and of narrow provenance and is mechanistic rather than a test of a treatment for any person.

The material we supply

We supply Selank as a research chemical, released against a written specification with a batch certificate of analysis. It is not an approved medicine and is not for human or animal use. For the vial sizes, the price per mg and how to order, see the Selank compound page; the COA lookup pulls the certificate for any batch. The references above link to each study’s record; this summary is for research and educational reference only.
